In the summer of 2023 we approached Trey Ernstes - the General Manager of Pearl Golf Links - about creating a custom designed golf shirt for his course. Trey loved the idea, and we immediately spent time exchanging design ideas. After a few conversations, we had a design brief that would highlight some very unique aspects of Pearl Golf Links.
Pearl Golf Links uses different colored conch shells as their yardage markers. Both Trey and the REP18 team determined it was very important to highlight the conch shells on the custom shirt.
Pearl, located in Calabash, NC, is also home to some gators that roam the course. We added these gators to the shirt as well.
Lastly, we believed the modern Pearl Golf Links was awesome, and we wanted to incorporate the icon version of the logo in the pattern.
The color aesthetic of Red, White, and Blue against a light blue shirt was chosen by Trey and represents a classic golf shirt look.
Like any quality golf shirt, it was important to get the embroidery right. On the left chest is the current ‘Pearl Golf Links’ logo in white. White was chosen as the color compliments the blue of the shirt and the color pallet of the underlying print design.
The golf shirt was delivered to Pearl in the winter of 2023 with plenty of time to be stocked in the course’s pro shop for the spring rush. Trey has indicated that early feedback on the shirts have been positive and then he is confident they will sell through once their busy season begins.
